CSS:Cheltenham Bible Festival 2007

A new initiative of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches

This new festival was hosted at Cheltenham Racecourse from 9th-11th August 07, and was visited by a very sizeable audience, given that this was the festival's first outing. Nothing was done by halves, and the great variety of venues, talks. workshops, cinemas etc, kept everyone very much on their toes.

With no less than 15 sound rigs deployed on the event, ranging from a single mic up to the complexities required in the Centaur auditorium, CSS had a particularly busy time of it. A week of diligent preparation however, gave the crews a fairly methodical get-in.

Our new University Placement student - Michael Siracusano, was given a baptism of fire as he hit the ground running, and we were all pleased to see that he survived his ordeal with some energy to spare.

Over 300 attended the Thursday evening Ceilidh in the Centaur, making friends and having a good time.

The following day saw a superb concert by Phatfish. Lou Fellingham's distinctive voice and the band's Scripture-drenched lyrics brought them much acclaim and no doubt won them new fans.

Phatfish accompanied Stuart Townend the final day for a concert of his well loved hymns and songs as well as some new material.

Sadly the FIEC is having to restructure its funding for this event, and so the planned 2008 event is postponed till 2009.
